About AFSA

A Message of Unity & Hope

To the Athletes, Coaches, Parents, private sectors and Friends of the All-Federal Capital Territory Sports Association (AFSA). Today, we stand stronger than ever. With over 38 vibrant sports proudly affiliated to AFSA – from Archery to Esports, Football to Goalball, Taekwondo to Scrabble – and with the private sectors now walking hand-in-hand with us, a new dawn has come for grassroots sports in Abuja.

This union is not just about funding; it is about faith. Faith that every child in the Area council or across the nation deserves a chance to dream. Faith that a young girl in Para Athletics will lift more than weights – she will lift hopes. Faith that a boy kicking a ball in Dei-Dei today can wear the green-white-green tomorrow.

Together, we declare:
“No sport is too small. No talent is too far.” Private sector + AFSA + Our Many Sports = One Abuja, One Future. Let us build fields of play, not walls of exclusion. Let us light up every corner of the FCT with the joy of sport. Let every child hear the same cheer: “You belong here. You can rise here.” The journey of a thousand trophies begins with a single step on a community pitch. We are taking that step – together. Forward ever, grassroots never backward! With sport’s love and Abuja’s pride.

Our Vision

To position the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a premier global hub for inclusive and sustainable sports excellence, empowering every resident with equitable access to cutting-edge facilities, programs, and opportunities that enhance physical well-being, foster community bonds, and elevate national prestige through innovative public-private collaborations.

Our Mission
The All-Federal Capital Territory Sports Association (AFSA) is dedicated to transforming sports in the FCT by building robust partnerships with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) for strategic infrastructure planning, regulatory alignment, and urban integration, while mobilizing private sector resources for investment, technology, and expertise.

We execute high-impact, inclusive sports initiatives that drive grassroots engagement, talent development, and competitive success; integrate health, education, and social programs for youth and marginalized groups; and stimulate economic vitality through sports-related tourism, employment, and innovation—guided by values of transparency, equity, environmental sustainability, and data-informed accountability to serve residents, partners, and Nigeria’s broader aspirations.
How We Are Transforming Sports in the FCT
Infrastructure Enhancement

We collaborate with the FCDA to modernize and expand sports facilities across the FCT.

Inclusive Program Delivery

Launch inclusive sports programs for youth, women, persons with disabilities, and rural communities.

Talent Pipeline Development

Establish FCDA-backed scouting systems and academies with private sponsorships to identify, train, and mentor athletes.

Private Sector Mobilization

Forge strategic partnerships with corporations to unlock funding, branding, and innovation opportunities. Target 35% of the association’s budget from private contributions within three years through tax incentives, CSR initiatives, and co-branded events.

Socio-Economic Empowerment

Leverage sports as a catalyst for community health, unity, and economic growth through FCDA-endorsed events that boost tourism, create over 5,000 jobs, and champion gender equality and anti-doping education.

Performance Monitoring and Adaptation

Working with the FCDA and private partners, we build data-driven evaluation systems that track participation, efficiency, and impact.
